CDA DANCE STUDIO · 2027

Student
agreement.

These terms accompany the 2027 registration form. For questions, contact register@cdadance.co.za.

1. Enrolment pathway

Recreational dancer: training includes exam assessments, group performances at AcroDance Festival South Africa and group performances in the annual showcase.

Competitive dancer: training includes exam gradings and solo, duet, trio and group performances at AcroDance Festival South Africa. Other external competition participation is voluntary and remains subject to teacher approval, readiness and the applicable fees.

2. Agreement term and cancellation

This is a fixed-term agreement for the start and end dates stated in CDA’s registration confirmation.

Previous attendance does not automatically create a new annual fixed-term agreement. A returning student’s parent or guardian must accept CDA’s registration confirmation and the dates, tuition and terms for the new period.

A parent or guardian may cancel at any time by giving CDA at least 20 business days’ written notice by email to register@cdadance.co.za. The effective cancellation date is calculated from the date CDA receives the notice.

The student may attend classes during the notice period. Normal fees remain payable up to the effective cancellation date and will be calculated proportionately if that date falls during a billing month.

CDA may calculate a reasonable cancellation charge individually in accordance with section 14 of the Consumer Protection Act.

The cancellation charge will not include future profit and will not negate the parent or guardian’s legal right to cancel.

If classes are disrupted by a pandemic, lockdown or similar event, CDA may provide online classes, but the same legal cancellation right continues to apply.

CDA may cancel for a material breach only after giving 20 business days’ written notice to remedy the breach and the breach is not remedied within that period.

CDA will notify the parent or guardian between 40 and 80 business days before the fixed term expires and explain the options to end the agreement, continue month-to-month where applicable, or accept a new fixed-term agreement.

3. Annual tuition, monthly instalments and arrears

CDA provides dance and acrobatics training services and does not sell products.

The 2027 registration fee is R520. The reduced fee of R470 applies only when both the registration form and full registration-fee payment are received on or before 15 November 2026 (South African time). Otherwise, R520 applies, with any amount already paid credited to the balance.

After submitting the form, pay the registration fee through CDA’s Yoco payment page using your registration reference. Enrolment can be accepted only after CDA has verified full payment of the registration fee. Submitting the form, opening the payment page or returning from Yoco does not confirm payment or enrolment. CDA will confirm class placement, tuition and the agreement separately.

The registration confirmation will state the fixed training term, total tuition for that term, number of instalments, monthly instalment amount and applicable payment dates.

The confirmed 2027 tuition rate for 1 hour of training per week is R510 per month. CDA will confirm the tuition for other training packages before enrolment is accepted.

Monthly payments are instalments of the tuition for the full fixed-term training programme. They are not pay-per-class fees or fees charged only for classes attended during a particular month.

Monthly tuition fees are payable in advance on or before the 5th of each month. This deadline also applies to account payers who previously paid on the 15th of the month.

If an instalment is not paid by its due date, CDA may charge interest on the overdue balance at a rate of up to 2% per month, or the maximum rate permitted by the National Credit Act and its regulations from time to time, whichever is lower. Interest applies only to the unpaid amount and remains subject to all statutory limits.

The account payer acknowledges and accepts the basis on which late-payment interest may become payable. CDA will comply with all applicable notice, collection and enforcement requirements under South African law.

CDA may adjust fees after giving at least 30 days’ notice to the parent, guardian or account payer.

CDA reserves the student’s place and class capacity and provides teaching, programme planning, choreography and administration for the fixed term.

While the agreement remains active, instalments remain payable during ordinary absences, school holidays, examinations, competitions and periods when the student chooses not to attend, including November and December, unless CDA agrees otherwise in writing.

Non-attendance or non-payment does not cancel or suspend this agreement. If the student will not continue, the parent or guardian must submit the written cancellation notice described in section 2.

Changing or discontinuing a dance style requires 20 business days’ written notice before the monthly fee can be adjusted.

If class fees remain unpaid for two months, the dancer’s classes may be suspended until the full overdue amount has been paid.

The account payer remains responsible for outstanding balances. CDA may use lawful account-recovery processes where necessary.

4. Competitions, examinations and additional fees

Group items are compulsory for all students at AcroDance Festival South Africa and CDA’s annual showcase. The teacher will allocate appropriate group items and determine any solo, duet or trio participation according to the dancer’s pathway and readiness.

A parent, guardian or account payer who confirms participation through WhatsApp, email or an online form accepts responsibility for the related entry fees.

By expressly accepting the automatic-entry authorisation in this registration form, the parent, guardian or authorised account payer instructs CDA to submit entries for all teacher-assigned items identified in a competition or examination entry notice if no response to the form or entry request is received by the stated deadline. The person giving this authorisation accepts responsibility for the related entry fees.

Before the response deadline, CDA will communicate the assigned items, applicable entry fees and deadline through WhatsApp, email or an online form. Any changes or a decision not to participate must be communicated by that deadline. Automatic entry under this policy requires the express advance authorisation recorded in the registration form; silence alone does not establish that authorisation.

Competition and examination fees must be paid by the stated deadline. Late or unpaid fees may prevent participation, and fees remain payable where an entry or participation has already been confirmed.

Private competition entries may not be made without informing the principal teacher. CDA encourages students to enter under the studio name and will assist with the process.

5. Group items, performances and costume fees

Participation in group items at AcroDance Festival South Africa and CDA’s annual showcase is compulsory for all students.

Group placement is decided by the teacher. Competitive groups may require a separate agreement and indemnity form.

Costume fees are payable in June of the performance year (June 2027 for the 2027 season) so CDA can place costume orders in time for performances.

Group choreography requires consistent commitment. A student who misses three consecutive weeks of group practice may be removed from the group.

Any proposed change to a student’s allocated group items must be discussed with CDA at least two months before the scheduled performance or competition. This does not change the enrolment cancellation provisions in section 2.

Students must participate responsibly. Teachers will not pressure, or accept pressure from, a student to perform a move or trick that is not considered safe or ready.

6. Solo participation

Beginner-phase students start with studio-set solos. Personal solos are introduced after the beginner phase at the teacher’s discretion and according to readiness.

Safety takes priority over age or competition level. A teacher will not require a dancer to perform a move that is unsafe or not yet secure.

A minimum of three private solo classes is required before a student may enter an external solo competition.

7. Examinations and assessments

Syllabus and examination material supplied through CDA’s affiliated associations is protected by copyright. CDA may not provide unauthorised videos or copies of that material.

Examinations are booked only when the required work has been learned, refined and judged ready by the teacher.

Some examination grades may require up to two years of training before a student is ready to enter.

8. Class requirements, punctuality and schedule

Acro Tumbling must be taken together with a regular AcroDance / acrobatics class at CDA. A dancer attending Modern Dance may join Acro Tumbling only if they also enrol in and attend an AcroDance / acrobatics class.

Students are expected to arrive on time and ready for class. Late arrival may cause a dancer to miss warm-up, safety preparation or important class content.

9. Studio attire and class requirements

Approved studio practice attire is compulsory and must be obtained independently by the parent, guardian or dancer. Performance costume fees and ordering are dealt with in section 5.

For normal practice, students must wear a CDA unitard or a plain black leotard or unitard. CDA tracksuits and warm-up clothing may be worn for warm-ups in colder weather.

Denim, T-shirts and oversized clothing are not permitted in class. Socks must be non-slip.

Hair must be secured in a bun and jewellery must be removed before class for safety and to reduce distraction.

10. Safety and indemnity

The parent or guardian must provide accurate medical or psychological information relevant to safe participation and notify CDA when that information changes.

Dance and acrobatics involve physical activity and an inherent risk of unforeseen accidents or injury. The parent or guardian acknowledges these risks.

CDA does not transport students to or from the studio. Parents or guardians must arrange transport, drop-off and collection for dancers under 18; adult dancers must make their own arrangements. Any urgent medical transport is arranged through qualified emergency services under the medical-consent provisions.

Medical, hospital, ambulance and emergency-transport costs are for the parent, guardian or authorised account payer’s account, including amounts not covered by medical aid or insurance. CDA does not undertake to pay or guarantee these costs by providing first aid or arranging emergency assistance. Liability that cannot lawfully be excluded remains unaffected.

The detailed risk acknowledgement, medical consent and limited indemnity below apply to participation. Teachers retain final authority on safe progressions and participation.

11. Photography, video and media

The registration form provides a separate choice to consent or not consent to the use of dance-related photographs and videos.

If consent is given, CDA may use this material on its website, social media, promotional material or television and may complete a related publication or release form where required.

A parent or guardian may withdraw future media consent by emailing register@cdadance.co.za. Withdrawal cannot always remove material already lawfully published or distributed.

12. Code of conduct

Students, parents and guardians must behave respectfully and support a disciplined, safe and positive studio environment.

Persistent student misconduct may lead to removal from class or termination of enrolment. Disruptive or abusive adult behaviour may result in the adult being asked to leave the premises or an event and may lead to termination of the student’s enrolment.

While enrolled at CDA, a dancer may not train in the same dance style at another studio without prior written agreement from CDA. This does not apply to styles CDA does not offer, such as ballroom dancing.

13. Concerns and complaints

Parents and guardians should arrange a meeting outside class hours or email register@cdadance.co.za. Discussions cannot normally be accommodated during or immediately after class.

Students are encouraged to raise concerns directly with the principal teacher so they can be addressed promptly and fairly.

14. Privacy and child information

CDA uses the dancer’s age or date of birth, previous dance experience, training goals and other registration information only where reasonably necessary for enrolment, account administration, class placement, student support, safety, competition and examination entries, and related studio communication.

Information should be accessible only to authorised staff and service providers who need it for these purposes, protected with reasonable safeguards and retained only for as long as necessary or legally required.

For a student under 18, the form must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian who is authorised to provide the child’s information and consent to its processing for the purposes described above.

Requests to access or correct registration information, or questions about its use, may be sent to register@cdadance.co.za.

Important Risk Acknowledgement, Medical Consent and Limited Indemnity

Please read carefully. This section describes the physical risks associated with training and affects the legal rights and responsibilities of the dancer and parent or guardian.

  1. Nature and scope of the activities. Dance, AcroDance, Acrobatics, Acro Tumbling, conditioning, stretching, rehearsals, competitions, examinations and performances involve physical exertion and inherent risks. These may include falls, collisions, strains, sprains, dislocations, fractures and injuries to the head, neck or back. In rare circumstances, an injury may be serious. Although CDA Dance Studio will take reasonable safety precautions, not every risk can be eliminated.
  2. Studio practice and venues. This section applies whenever the dancer participates in an authorised CDA activity, including regular classes, private lessons, rehearsals, supervised practice sessions, warm-ups, conditioning, stretching, choreography, use of studio equipment, examinations, competitions and performances. It applies whether the activity takes place at the CDA studio or at an external venue under CDA’s supervision. The parent or guardian acknowledges the ordinary risks associated with studio premises and training equipment, including floors, mats, apparatus, mirrors, entrances, waiting areas and interaction with other dancers.
  3. Student transport. CDA does not transport students to or from the studio. Parents or guardians must arrange transport, drop-off and collection for dancers under 18; adult dancers must make their own arrangements. Where urgent medical transport is needed, CDA may contact qualified emergency services under the first-aid and emergency-treatment provisions.
  4. Medical information and fitness to participate. The parent or guardian confirms that all relevant medical conditions, previous injuries, allergies, medication, physical limitations and participation restrictions have been disclosed accurately. CDA must be informed promptly if this information changes. The parent or guardian remains responsible for obtaining medical advice about whether the dancer is fit to participate.
  5. Safety instructions. The dancer must follow the teacher’s instructions, use equipment only with permission and immediately report pain, injury, dizziness or illness. CDA may stop or modify a dancer’s participation where this is reasonably necessary for safety.
  6. First aid and emergency treatment. If the dancer becomes ill or injured, CDA may provide reasonable first aid and contact the parent, guardian or emergency contact. Where urgent treatment is reasonably necessary and the responsible adult cannot be reached promptly, the parent or guardian authorises CDA to arrange ambulance transport and assessment or treatment by a qualified medical professional. CDA will make reasonable efforts to contact the responsible adult as soon as possible.
  7. Medical and ambulance costs.
  8. Acceptance of inherent risk. With knowledge of the risks described above, the parent or guardian voluntarily permits the dancer to participate. This acknowledgement relates only to risks that remain despite CDA taking reasonable care.
  9. Limited indemnity. To the extent permitted by law, the parent or guardian indemnifies CDA, its owner and staff against third-party claims caused by the dancer’s intentional misconduct, failure to follow reasonable safety instructions, or materially inaccurate or withheld information. This does not cover loss caused by CDA’s negligence, unlawful conduct or breach of legal duties.
  10. Rights preserved. Nothing in this agreement excludes liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
