HOW MODERN DANCE WORKS AT CDA

You register for
Modern Dance.

Contemporary, Lyrical and Modern Jazz are not treated as three unrelated weekly classes. They are developed together within one coherent programme so dancers build transferable technique, versatility and performance quality.

The technical base is strongly balletic, giving dancers the posture, placement, line, control and movement vocabulary needed to move confidently between the three performance styles.

01

CONTEMPORARY

Movement quality

Control, dynamics, use of weight, flow, floor work and expressive movement.

02

LYRICAL

Line & interpretation

Musical phrasing, extension, emotion, fluidity and storytelling through movement.

03

MODERN JAZZ

Rhythm & performance

Technique, attack, rhythm, coordination, turns, jumps and confident stage presence.

DANCECOR

One technical syllabus.
Versatile dancers.

CDA’s Modern Dance programme is affiliated with DanceCor. Examination training is approached as one progressive modern syllabus rather than splitting Contemporary, Lyrical and Modern Jazz into separate technical programmes.
